REFLECTION BLOG

I felt as if my project went well. I can honestly say that there is a problem with the internet auction world. My audience was anyone who could have used the internet that might be out there looking for a thrill or a bargain. I hope that they got the reasons for my writing this paper. I felt as if I got some points across that no one would have been familiar with had I not wrote this report. The overall report I felt could have been better. My controversy hopefully will bring attention to more people and doctors that are going to be able to help more with this ongoing problem. My conclusion could have incorporated other items. I think that over all my point were well thought out in my head, but maybe not so well thought out on “paper”. I enjoyed having Jela being able to help me along with my different aspects like my conclusion and my technology issues that I had frequently. Classmates also helped me along with my confusion. I also was extremely thrown off in the class when the kids behind me messed around all the time, and it was distracting towards me.

The one thing that my friends and I always tend to argue about is the gun policy in America. I come from a family that goes to the extreme on the right to have guns. My friends don’t quite have those feelings towards the situation. One time about ten of my closest friends and I went to dinner. Somewhere in the course of dinner someone brought up gun policy in America. There were only two of us who were for freedom to carry arms, the others plainly attacked us. Although most of them were unaware of the complete situation; A lot of the guys that were at the dinner were hunters but were still opposed to having fire arms, they clearly did not see the difference in there firearms to hand guns. My point was that the gun I have a permit for is for protection and they used their guns to kill animals. I felt as if that was sort of a double standard I do not use my gun at leisure and go around killing, but they kind of do. The guns that both of the groups of people have are registered firearms I explained. The guns that are not registered and they people using those should be the ones we should be fighting towards not the ones that are being kept legally now.

My assignment on eBay and society has great relevance I think. When researching this topic I brought even my own experiences with the topic in as well. There are several good and bad things that can contribute to my report. EBay has not only helped and yet hindered me but it has done so to others I know as well. My information was a lot of testimonials and facts that came directly from eBay. These things made stuff more believable to me keeping in mind that other experiences are out there. The point I was trying to further with me report was not only has eBay helped out economy in general but also in other ways it has as well hurt our economy. EBay trades with thirty-nine global markets which takes money out of circulation and distributes it to other. While I use eBay I try not to purchase anything from out of the country for two reasons mainly because it may not come and it make not be what you were expecting. Now maybe I do not buy from another countries other consumers may still do so. I felt that the one shortcoming I had in my paper was that I did not include enough hard evidence about something’s I presented. I kept only to the basics but I still went a small amount in depth about problems, but there was so much more I could have put in there. I could have even used the information I said above t o make it more definite. Also my grammar could have been clearer. The layout of the project I thought was good though it was easily labeled to go from one place to another thru out my project. Overall minus the hard evidence and the grammar mistakes I think it was well thought out.

Topic Proposal

My topic is on how people become addicted to ebay. Also why these people become addicted. What makes them sit infront of that computer for hours on end waiting and waiting. I believe its the thrill of the auctioning just like gambling people thrive off of things like that. Is it an addiction to Shopping or an addiction to the gamble.

The website I used was the New York Times website. This website is extremely reputable. Almost everyone in America knows about the New York Times and most of those people have daily subscriptions. They authors have written several other pieces not of this nature all the time , but some that are similar pieces and just as good as well. It is Awesome how they have such a wide variety of what anyone is looking for. They also have information that is current and up to date. One of my articles was one week old; on the other hand one was about a year old. The information was still relevant though.

Essay reflection

This assignment seemed at first as if It was going to be extremely to technological for me. In the long run there were some very easy things that need to be learned to put together the whole project. The essay was extremely easy to tie together on Dreamweaver I feel that after choosing this article I maybe could have chose a better one because almost everyone in the class is doing this same article except for a very few others. This makes me feel as if I wanted to say something and everyone else in the class disagreed it maybe majority rules thing from the teachers’ basis which makes it kind of hard to not be able to pick your own essay. The good part though was I did not have to do my own research and find my own article. These articles were pre picked for a reason. They include several different key features such as a controversial point and a selling point in which they want you to agree and some include a special graphics to grab the attention of the reader. Colors and text size and font tend to do the same effect as graphic pull. The essay I wrote mostly agreed with the blog writer Fred Gooltz. He made several good points about how today we are more then likely to be addicted to the technology now made available. These essays may kind of help because they are pre-picked and they are student friendly to make it as simple as possible to evaluate this time. Also to do more work with these essays later down the road. Overall I like the assignment a lot it is better then writing large papers all the time. Plus I enjoy learning how to utilize new technology the school has to offer me.

How Technology has impacted my daily life.

Technology has impacted me in many different ways. I work for a cellular phone company. So I make good money there because well pretty much everyone in today's day has a cell phone. I work for a pretty popular company so that makes it even easier. Another form of technology that has impacted my life for the good and bad is the internet with MySpace. Yes MySpace has helped me further my career in dancing but it has also cause problems with my relationships. So technology helps me make money pretty much, and I see nothing wrong with that at all. In my life technology is completely unavoidable I have to have a cell phone because it is mandatory for my job and I have to use the internet because that is mandatory for school and my job. Some people may not be effected by technology this much, but I find it hard to believe. I live for my phone if I were to loose it I’m not sure what I would do. It has everything in it, from my schedule to everyone I know phone number and addresses and even small stuff like pictures that I would not want to loose. That is how technology has impacted my life on a daily basis.

Cyber Technology

Cyber technology is just as big of an influence as pop culture. More then likely people spend most of their daily time online some sort of way. People use all types of things to connect with other people or to entertain themselves. It is a big part of most peoples lives whether we would like to believe it or not it is. If the world did not have the Internet think of what we would be doing. We would not even have this class to participate in. In the world today we need this technology to function to pretty much do anything. Think about what we would do if we could not use the latest technology ie laptops, computers, ipods, cell phones, pdas. Even some house hold appliances, could we stand not to have these items now that we are accustomed to them. Of course not.

Pop culture has shaped my life

Pop culture has shaped my life in more ways then one. I don’t think that anyone’s life has yet to be shaped by some form of pop culture. In today’s day in age everything that is done or watched or even listened to help to shape our future. Whether it is what we are wearing, what we think is ok to watch, who we idolize, and what we end up enjoying. People are controlled by pop culture in i.e. the media. The media tells us what we should like and, what we shouldn’t. We depict or mimic petty much everything we do from people we see or hear about. When I think about when I was in high school I think about what influenced me to listen to the stuff I listened to. To dress the way I did as well as to act the way I acted. I think that I based most of the stuff I did off of things I seen on TV or what the popular people or celebrities were doing wearing or listening too. For example when a new song came out on mtv or on the radio they played it so much you could not help but to like it or they talked it up so much you just wanted to buy it with out even listening to the song itself. Pop culture had a great influence on my life and still does today.
